Nestled in the heart of Dekwaneh, a big shop facing Falafel Abul3ezz is specialized in breakfast items. Called “Balila,” the restaurant serves traditional bites from our country as of 7 am. Let’s see how’s the food.

Balila looks nice from the outside. Welcoming and bright, the experience inside is different from the one you feel on the outside. I’m not sure why is it so grey with windows that make it look black on the inside. Wood, decorative pillows, mouneh jars, wood and grey stones; the restaurant has been decorated with style. The chef welcomes you, a smile on his face, he has a special way to greet guests.

I’ve ordered almost everything, a dozen plates hoping to enjoy a delicious breakfast but unfortunately, I found the food to be average.

  • The plus: plates look great! Check out the mouthwatering photos.
  • The minuses: Foul lacks lemon and needs a bit more cooking. Hummus beyrouté is undercooked. Fatteh needs a load of salt. That’s not Labneh baladiyah I received; it’s a normal Labneh off the shelf. Saj manakish are way too chewy, and the bread is undercooked. The zaatar quality is too acidic and strong.
  • The good: I liked the grilled Halloumi. Hummus is good enough; I loved the crunchy almonds. Labneh awarma is tasty but contains too much salt.
  • The great thing to remember: all of the above for only 50$. Great value for money.

I’ve tried almost everything trying to enjoy at least one plate that will make me come again; Honestly, the food lacks “Lebanese Nafass”.
