Located on the slopes of the world-famous Barouk cedars reserve, “Em Fares,” a Lebanese restaurant serving homemade Lebanese food welcomes you for lunch and dinner. Touring Barouk for my last episode, I stopped for a bite and discovered a homey cuisine, food cooked with love and dedication by “Em Fares” herself, assisted by her husband and family. Back with the family, we sat for lunch on a calm Thursday.

A camera in hand and an episode to film, I did t have time to write a review on my first visit, and here I am coming again for more. With a view on the pool, a breath of fresh air at 1300m altitude of meters, we sat to have lunch.

Conventional Lebanese food, hummus, salads, makdous, kebbeh, Labneh, sambousik and raw meat among other specialties prepared the way Em Fares feeds her family. Intensely loaded with love, food contains much “Nafass.”

I enjoyed lunch: hand-cut French fries, authentic hummus, mtabbal, kechek, tabbouleh, fresh zaatar salad, and Em Fares signature makdoos, among other unique creations. I fell in love with the food for the second time in less than two weeks. The cheese rolls are awesome! The hummus is unique. The fries are superb, and the zaatar salad makes you love and taste the land.

You can’t skip dessert! Em Fares’ meghle is one of the best, and the signature jams she prepares are fantastic! Enjoy your meal, indulge in some unique desserts, and leave with a smile on your face.
