Food Meets Art 119: The Bread Experience

Made out of old baguette loaves, this table is of art which was created to express how food that would have been thrown away could be put to good use. If you're looking for a fun piece of furniture to add character to your ambiance consider this crusty-chic table created by Gosia and Tomek Rygalik.

Food thrown away in Vienna could feed half of the population of Graz. The project's aim was to start a discussion about food waste. It was also to show that the materials to build from are all around us. The tables were made from stale baguettes that were supposed to be thrown away.

These bread structures were part of a "bread experience" created by Gosia and Tomek Rygalik at the Vienna Design Week Laboratory, where people were surrounded by bread eating bread dishes from bread tables.
