Laksa: A Specialty of the Singapore Garden Restaurant

Touring around London's best with The FoodieHub experts, next on our list was a restaurant called the Singapore Garden. It's a fancy place that has perfect set tables - white tablecloths and fine cutlery... It felt like a high end restaurant that offers some real Asian food - or at least this is what they say.

A good first impression, and here we were for a Laksa treat.

Laksa is a popular spicy noodle soup in the Peranakan cuisine, which is a combination of Chinese and Malay cuisine. It can be found in MalaysiaSingapore and Indonesia. CNN Travel ranked Penang Assam Laksa 7th out of the 50 most delicious foods in the world.

Curry laksa is a coconut curry soup with noodles, while asam laksa is a sour fish soup with noodles. Thick rice noodles also known as laksa noodles are most commonly used, although thin rice vermicelli.

Now I understand... Some say it's even better than the ones you can have in Malaysia, some say it's breathtaking, exquisite, whatever you want to say about them I agree that it tastes amazing! Start with the smell, the aromas, fresh herbs and spices. A perfect texture and a certain successful way of making all those ingredients blend well together into a superb creation. The juice is so intense, the curry and spices tickling your palate. Inside a smooth, soft and tasty portion of noodles bathes in a yellow sauce. Shrimp, perfectly cooked and tofu with a firm envelope and a juicy, spongy heart. A strong spiciness that tickles your palate for a long time, a plate that feels like a sauce and tastes like heaven.

On the table were served some noodles that looked exactly like the filling of the soup but it doesn't make sense to eat them alone, separated from their delicious sauce. So I believe the extra noodles are offered to fill in the plates when they're empty. These noodles make you understand the real ingredients of the Laksa. White noodles, green onions, tofu, shrimp, fried eggs, white bean shoots and the seasoning.

Now I understand why we're here. A heaven for Asian cuisine aficionados.
