After my first visit to LVD I couldn't hide my amazement and appreciation towards this one of a kind diner with a review some criticized as too positive. I wanted what I consider one of my favorite diners just to see if my thoughts are still in place and to prove to others that it is indeed as good as I say it is. I copied the paragraph published on their Facebook page as it is completely honest and true and reflects my opinion completely.

LVD, the Latest Version Diner restaurant to hit town, takes the concept of a hearty American diner and cooks up a unique twist by serving sensational high quality steak burgers and premium steaks in a casual setting that will transport your taste buds to another world. And the secret's all in the fresh never frozen, premium Black Angus and Wagyu beef and all the other high quality imported ingredients.

The succulent low to high marbled fresh meat imported by air from abroad crowns the menu and yet every item on the menu is a true delight (the marbling grade of the Black Angus is 6 over 12 and the grade of the Wagyu is 12). Most of the ingredients are imported from the USA and Australia to guarantee you enjoy big, authentic flavors. For instance LVD is the only place that serves fresh black angus hot dogs from the USA. This passion for quality can be relished in every bite and extends to the selection of French and Chilean wines and expert wine pairing. LVD is definitely the place for discerning people who appreciate great tasting, high quality food. And yet surprisingly enough, LVD is a casual diner with casual prices. Here you can savor good value, an unforgettable culinary experience and tasteful decor.

LVD is super hot on choice. You can choose between a Black Angus or Wagyu burger and can satisfy your appetite with a 4 oz, 6 oz or 8 oz burger. The selection of premium steaks will unleash your inner carnivore with prime cuts of grass fed, MB1, MB3, MB5 and MB8. Because the meat is truly outstanding, it is served grilled, braised and oven baked to seal the flavors and is never well done and always succulently medium to medium well. And if you’re not craving beef, then the sublime chicken burgers and tender steaks are a great option.

Located in Dbayeh, LVD starts serving breakfast at 6 a.m. and continues to tempt foodies with lunch, snacks, desserts, sunset dining and dinner until it closes at midnight. The trendy, chic and warmly decorated diner seats 60 indoors and 30 on the beautiful outdoor terrace. It also boasts exceptional 5-star service. The staff members are obviously well-trained, experienced and very attentive. Another winning ingredient that stands out is the open kitchen. Not only can your eyes feast on the food being prepared, but you can see the cleanliness and quality for yourself. These elements go hand in hand with LVD's tantalizing menu to culminate in a totally new diner concept. LVD really is the latest version of a diner.

Positive and unchanged things:
  • The clean and clear furniture and design well taken care off.
  • The broken glass facade fixed.
  • Happy, welcoming and professional waiters.
  • The all-ears manager and owner on duty with their name tag.
  • The easy listening background music.
  • The individual pendant lights over each table.
  • The nice thick carton menus.
  • Custom made printed napkins.
  • The professional meat cutting knives.
The culinary experience I enjoyed:
  • The mozzarella bars are delicious, especially their square shape and their non-oily finish.
  • In my last review I criticized the broken nacho pieces: That issue has been solved by making sure only the finest pieces are served.
  • Onion rings are still one of my favorites around.
  • Burgers are a simple "Sans Faute". Very close to perfection.
  • French fries are delicious.
  • The chicken burger is juicy, soft and tender.
  • Chicken strips with their honey mustard sauce are extraordinary.
The minus I would definitely change:
  • The presentation of the meat is not appealing especially for the price we're paying.
  • The small portion of mini mushrooms mixed with lemon sauce is not tasty and has nothing to do - neither with a diner concept nor with the fries and high-end products LVD is offering. It's cold and has no sense specially when you order a mushroom sauce and receive more mushroom in another form in the same plate.
  • I didn't even taste the green pieces of artichokes that I again didn't understand. For the high priced Waguy I would have expected maybe more fries, sautéed hot mushrooms or sautéed spinach for exemple.
  • Having the possibility to choose between Coca-Cola or Pepsi.
Bravo LVD. You're still one of my favorite diner and burger spot in Lebanon.
