Located in CDG Terminal 1, the Icare reflects the style of this building. Old, badly maintained, small, dull with a limited choice of food... The verdict: Not worth it.

Reaching the lounge is like traveling around Europe. We were scheduled to fly from gate 70, which is inside Europe's borders, but the lounge is at gate 10, on the other side of the world. Go through the tunnel, wait in line, continue after passport control before reaching the lounge up on the first floor.

Green walls, large glass facades, brown sofas, wooden floor, a low ceiling, flowers and a tiny, little space to walk around.

What you’ll find:

  • A room with a glass door, inside are two work desks and two sofas. It all feels like a back office in someone’s garage
  • A calm corner with black sofas and dimmed lighting
  • A rectangular space where everyone is sitting, packed like a sardine box
  • Magazines and a bar
  • The food buffet

Red and white wines, soft drinks, biscuits, chips, croissants and a single choice of tuna sandwiches wrapped in plastic. Not much of a selection and not too appetizing.

The good thing is that the ambiance is very calm and Internet is fast and free.

Next time I'll stay at a coffee shop down below in departures.
