We were lost in the middle of nowhere, in a tiny village called Pitlochry, a few hours drive from Edinburgh, on the lookout for the finest whisky distilleries in the country. Walking the streets, we stopped in front of a beautiful old building with a catchy name, a place called the Scotland's Hotel.
We expected amazement, a hotel that looks more like a castle with a name of the complete region... It must be good.
Enter a calm place, too calm, it felt like a haunted house. At the reception, there were two people, who weren't very welcoming and when we asked if we could book a room they answered no before even looking at their available rooms. After waiting, we were offered a room for £80. The room was quite empty and a bit too calm. More of a hotel for the older generation.
Up in the room were two beds, no air conditioning unit, a small room typical of a 1 or 2 star hotel. The bathroom on the other hand, wide in size has the blocked a sink and bathtub so we had to float in water during our stay.
Breakfast was served in the ballroom/dining space, dull and unattractive, the menu was rudimentary and the waiters were not too welcoming.
Searching for a bed to spend the night, this is your hotel but nothing more should be expected. I'm not sure there is anything exceptional to write about. I stretched it already!
