Lunch at the Sage Parlour in Mar Mikhael

I’ve had such good food in San Francisco, in New York in Paris and Rome... I’ve had amazing food around the world and wished I could experience the same feeling in Beirut! Arriving at the Sage Parlour, I was impressed by the fresh decor and vibrant vibes, the welcoming of Roula, the happy waitress, the soothing music and perfectly studied lighting. It reminded me of Mazarine San Francisco and Buvette in New York; Food is out of this world!

Check out the photos and experience one of Beirut’s newly opened all-day eateries that will transport you to the United States and back without even setting foot on a plane.

Wood, artificial plants, mirrors, glass, carpets, and sofas... a bar, an open kitchen, a dining space and high glass facades. I loved the space and didn’t even feel like leaving.

“Waw, I said to himself screaming uncontrollably.” Oh My God, this is so finger-licking good. The combination of flavors, the blend of colors and textures, the marriage of perfection! Imagine two slices of toasted bread, ripe avocados, tender cherry tomatoes, crumbles of white cheese, a poached egg and a spread of smooth and creamy hummus. I only imagined this would be available at fine-dining restaurants, a creation of Michelin chefs and never at an eatery in Beirut. “Hummus” and beyond...

Yep, thick English muffins, a bed of spinach, two poached eggs and a side of smoked salmon; add the hollandaise and enjoy. A soft bun, a wet mix of fresh spinach, a poached egg on top and the zesty-acidic hollandaise.

Yummy, the jams, and cheese croissant is so good. What makes it even better is the lemon juice of the side salad, absorbed by its bottom layer. I loved the quality of ham and the intensity of the yellow cheese. A buttery and flaky croissant.

I’ve had avocados on toast. Dozens of them, in New York, San Francisco, LA and beyond... I’ve never imagined feeling transported to the capitals of the world while having a sandwich in Beirut. It's simply toasted, a good quality bread topped with ripe avocados mixed with lemon juice. The lemon tickles your palatal buds drawing a gentle smile on the face. Salmon is for the style and class. A sandwich that makes someone happy... I never imagined avocados could have such an effect.

Pancakes... one bite and I was gone... Chocolate chips and bananas together in a stack of three pancakes. Oh my goodness, dear lord, this is orgasmic... this is too good for my body to handle. Maple syrup and dark chocolate sauce combined make of it a ticking bomb ready to explode in your mouth. I loved the tenderness, the softness, and sponginess of the pancakes as well as the moisture of bananas and the intensity of the warm chocolate. It’s so good; it really is so good! Thank you, chefs, for making my day.
