Vert Tulipe, located just in front of the Trinity church, on the 9th district is one of those restaurants that cater to the neighborhood's residences. I don't see myself coming a distance to eat here, neither for the food, nor for the service and ambiance. I happened to be in the area for work and decided to have a quick early dinner at Vert Tulipe.

The Place:
  • A violet/green menu for the drinks and a green menu for the food
  • A warm welcoming
  • A cozy ambiance
  • Round tables from different colors (violet, yellow, green)
  • A simple Parisian cafe with a simple decoration for the accustomed customers and the neighborhood's residents
  • On the outside curtains you can read: corse, fruité, délicat, soyeux, aromatique, intense, floral, puissant, généreux, liquoreux, profond. I think those are the description of wines served here.

The menu sections:
  • Les entrées
  • Les plats
  • Les fromages
  • À l'heure de l'opera (assiette vert tulipe et assiette la trinité)
  • Les desserts
  • Côté brasserie (salades spéciales)
  • Croque pain poilante
  • Pour les marsupilamis (menu enfants)

We ordered:
  • Croque Madame (jambon, fromage, œuf) layers on a crunchy piece of brown French bread, with a eggs ordered sunny side up in the middle, this dish is close to perfection. Crunchy, hot, tasty and full of taste.
  • Hamburger Maison au Goût du Chef et ses Frites: Red meat, thin layer of tomato, fresh green lettuce, melted cheese, a bit of cocktail sauce and a thin onion ring all surrounded by a thin white bread, make of this burger a homemade special. A special taste you'll enjoy. A subtle melty sensation decorated by a soft sweetness activate your taste buds. The bread on another hand is close to the bagel's one making it a bit spongy and sticky. It's an accustomed taste: It's either you like it or not
  • Ivan le Terrible (Salades mélangées, légumes marines, jambon de pays, tomates, œuf poche, roquefort, noix, pommés fruits) - Not my favorite

The minuses:
  • An outside smoking seating, closed with glass but unfortunately heated inappropriately
  • An aggressive staff that is mostly rough and always in a hurry to go open discussions with each other
  • The food can be better
  • While outside, underground cracking sounds of the metro are the perfect headache igniter - you feel under your feet
I appreciated:
  • I wanted to order more than three plates but the waiter insisted I don't as the plate sizes are big
  • I loved the Croque Madame. A success I would come back again for if I happen to be in the neighborhood.
  • The burger can be perfect if the bread is changed
It's an average place that didn't really leave a great impression on me. I wouldn't make it a point to actually come back. Work on your service! A must!
