2015: Best Italian Restaurants in Lebanon

Any dish served in Italian restaurant is simply. Pizzas, pastas and risottos, Italian cuisine is great. Voted for many years as the trendiest and most loved cuisine on earth, the Italian cuisine has gained a large part of the local market. Check out areas like MarMikhael and Gemmayze to find more than five Italian restaurants. Below are the ones I like and recommend.

Gavi: The New and Trendy Italian Restaurant in Beirut

It's called Gavi and it is today one of the trendiest Italian restaurants in Beirut.  Brought to us by the owners of Kampai, Gavi is an upscaled Italian that welcomes you in the gardens of the Kampai building. Down the elevator, is a big restaurant, a rectangular space, with a large terrace overlooking the gardens.

Marinella: Le Coin Italien des Habitués

Unfortunately for you dear Italian cuisine lovers, Marinella only opens for lunch. You'll have to find a way to escape work or simply come on the weekend... To my luck, it was a Monday and an official holiday, so of course  Marinella was first on my list.

Tavolina: Surely one of my Favorites

We all enjoyed our time so much that we decided to come back for more next week. During dinner, my wife and I couldn't stop looking at each other saying: "They have improved a lot!" Today, I enjoyed good Italian and delicious food, an awesome Pizza - all set in a nice atmosphere. Tavolina is a place I recommend.

Al Dente: A Fine Dining Italian in Beirut

Al Dente, the only Italian fine dining restaurant in Lebanon has never seized to impress guests for the past decade or so. Located in one of the finest hotels in Lebanon and the only Relais et Chateau, the quality is up to the standards of this fine establishment. For The Academia Italiana Della Cucina first dinner in 2014, all guests lived a memorable experience.

Pzza.Co: The Casual Italian

After a successful year of operation; Pzza.Co reinvents itself with a new menu. New and exquisite introductions to the menu take this Italian restaurant to a higher level. I'm a fan; a big fan of Pzza.Co's Italian specialties and their pizza is surely considered one of the country's finest pizzas. I came back to try the new items on the menu… that offer a wider variety of items with the same great taste.

Toto: Premium Italian

Been here, done that and still loving it like the first time. There are Italian trattorias, others that are fast food concepts, some do only pizza or try to produce fresh pasta, but few know what Italian culture is all about. Toto is Italian at its finest with plates oozing freshness from the Italian terroir, a risotto I adore, pastas cooked to perfection and a pizza you can't but fall in love with.

Mario e Mario: The Comeback

The last few days of of my summer were crowned with dinners at Mario e Mario up on the terrace. Enchanted by fine Italian music, lit by the street's yellow lantern and the many hanging bucket lights suspended from the pergola, we sat to enjoy some good food at Mario e Mario.

Albergo: The Chef is Back

There are a few places in Lebanon that really stand out and eventually become a landmark. One such place is the Albergo Hotel. Passing by the famous Rue Du Liban in Achrafieh, you can't but notice a beautiful building hosting the only Relais&Chateaux hotel in Lebanon. Hotel Albergo, nestled at the intersection between Rue Du Liban and Abdel Wahab el Inglizi Street is an iconic location known by most people. Inside this hotel are two restaurants.  Choose between Aldente, the fine dining Italian restaurant or the Rooftop to indulge in one of the finest cuisines Lebanon has to offer.
