Light food, very spicy and garlic free! I enjoyed my dinner.

Colorful chairs, red table napkins, colorful lanterns coming down from the ceiling and a bar; Al Hindi is one of Lebanon’s only Indian restaurants. A small space serves an authentic Indian cuisine. Accompanied by the musical tunes of the restaurant and a live piano performance from the lobby, we sat for dinner.

I’m not an expert of Indian cuisine, due to lack of choices and because usually, almost everything contains garlic. A rich culinary heritage I wish to explore more often. To tell you the truth, I discovered that Al Hindi cuisine doesn’t contain garlic as much as I expected; I felt good tonight.

On the menu: starters, salads, bread, vegetarian curries, non-vegetarian curries, vegetarian kebabs, kebabs, biryani rice and desserts.

Despite the slow service, bright lights and bizarre mood, food is very good! I loved the bread, crunchy rolls, samosas, spices and balanced flavors. I enjoyed the chicken lollipops, the chewiness of the bread and all the sauces.

Rice and hot dishes followed; good quality rice, tasty mixes. I loved it all without going into details.

The restaurant was full tonight! People come here to enjoy a good meal prepared by skilled chefs. Things would have been better if the staff is trained to “Indian food culture” and wears traditional outfit. Food is good, even great, but the restaurant lacks the Indian experience which doesn’t make one want to visit again.

Dessert time: gulab jamun (Indian donut) and gajar halwa (Indian desserts made of carrots, cardamom and milk). The desserts are not worth it; complicated flavors and too sweet.

Al Hindi serves Indian Food you have to try.
