Usually enjoying good food in a touristic destination is not easy to find; “Assad el Baher” changed the rule by serving a delicious homey cuisine on the waterfront down at Ta7et el Ri7. In one of Lebanon’s sexiest destinations which some call “Anforini” for Santorini, Assaad el Baher is a family owned restaurant preparing locally sourced fish and homemade food for the pleasure of their guests.

Seated on the terrace with a great view on the blue waters, lunch started with a seafood salad, loaded with mussels, shrimp and crab sticks followed by a raw fish from Anfeh’s sea.

The appetizers combo is only made with seafood: fried shrimp, crab, calamari rolls, mussels and fresh shrimp. Dip them in cocktail sauce and enjoy. Calamari with carrots, shrimp Provençal, a big grilled fish and finished on my own, fried fish and two things that left an impression.

I loved everything, but two items stood out; the homemade things;

  • Green sea pickles some call “sea zaatar” or “7ashishet el Ba7er”. Green algae pickled in vinegar and salt.
  • Sardine preserved in salt. An intense taste of the sea.

Lunch ended with a basket of fruits and “Tamriyyeh” fingers. “Assaad el Baher” is an excellent choice for your weekend venture to the beach city of Anfeh.
