A bizarre lounge music, golden colored walls, fine dining style with casual notes, no air conditioning, a ceiling covered with wood... it felt bizarre from the minute we walked in. I was not sure if this restaurant was a trattoria or an upscale Italian so I waited to be served before judging. The music became louder, pop hits from the nineties -at an Italian restaurant. Trying to lay back and enjoy the moment, I was sliding from the tight sofa.
Golden colored leather benches, commercial placemats not fitting the decor, brown colored tables decorated with electric candles and still that music not fitting an Italian restaurant. On both sides, mirrors make the closed space feel bigger since there are no windows to relax it. The place felt weird! It’s too hot and the music is way too annoying for dinner.
On the menu: starters, salads, durum wheat pasta, house-made pasta and main courses.
Dinner starts when a plate of olive oil and a basket of bread land on the table. French bread, chewy on the inside and crunchy on the outside served warm.
Tonight’s dinner:
- The beetroot salad lacks sauce. Fresh thickly sliced beetroot with loads of greens and crumbles of goat cheese. More sauce and less salt are needed.
- Carpaccio, half cold, half warm served with fried artichokes looking like bones. The plate had several kinds of flavors that do not match together with an unpleasant saltiness.
- I’m not sure if they know what are real pasta like at Bocca. The spaghetti are way overcooked to be edible. The spaghetti lack life! The fusilli is slightly better, the meat and mozzarella add flavor to the mix.
Nothing is worth coming here: the music is annoying, the food is below average, the vibes are negative and the air is hot. I won’t be coming back anytime soon.
