Located in the heart of the Trocadero and facing the Eiffel Tower is a touristic cafe called Trocadero. Out of the five cafes on the roundabout Trocadero was an obvious choice for its cozy decor and class the others didn't have.

Yellow lights and a warm ambiance, this restaurant is set on two levels and divided into a terrace and inner dining space. White flowers and yellow chandeliers with wooden brown tables covered with white tablecloths. Every table has a set of cutlery and a paper napkin.

The menu is largely homemade with  many dishes labeled as made in-house.  Salads, starters, the cheese platters, pasta, to share and the day's suggestions by chef Dominique Tostain.

We were welcomed by the head waiter and served by a staff that's welcoming and attentive. We ordered the spaghetti bolognaise, the Caesar salad, the cheese platter and the salmon gravlax.

  • Three thick slices of salmon, that rich full bodied salmon without unneeded fat, flavorful and adequately oily. I loved it.
  • The cheese player has four choices of cheese. Four big pieces served with a basket of bread, that kind of fresh French bread and the cheese, served cold and feeling fresh. That's a good first impression before the main courses are served.
  • The Caesar salad is excellent; chicken is sliced like a carpaccio and served with three large slices of Parmesan cheese, crunchy toast, an egg sliced in quarters and a mix of lettuce with the signature Caesar sauce. Sundried tomatoes, Roma lettuce to decorate; this salad is very appealing and generous. It's an unconventional salad you don't expect to eat at a touristic restaurant.
  • The spaghetti Bolognaise could be a bit more al dente or less cooked and the spaghetti could be a bit thinner, but the fact is that I enjoyed it a lot. I loved the sauce and its acidity, the melting cheese on top and the enjoyable juiciness.

Good food, indeed very good food. I didn't expect it at all and will surely be coming back for more.
