Open since 1927, Carette has been the Meeting point for locals and travelers coming here to see and be seen. A cafe trottoir with an internal dining space set in front of a lavish display of viennoiseries and desserts. Looking like a calmer yet classier version of Ladurée, Carette is considered to be the lady of the Trocadéro serving breakfast and lunch, a famous brunch as well as desserts beautifully presented for the eyes to water. It smells good around here, the vibes are fresh, people seem happy, and service is quick and attentive.

Let’s start with the display, a selection of local specialties that will make your mouth water. The Macarons have a classy look; the fig tart is irresistible, the giant macaron makes you want to devour it in one single bite, the apple tart is golden and well baked as well as the Danish pastry and croissants. I was excited to have lunch and try their desserts afterward.

On the menu, choose a drink, coffee or tea, pastries, toasted and tartines, fruits, Carette’s breakfast, brunch, express bite, salads, eggs, the suggestion of the day, plates, handmade sandwiches, bread, crepe, cakes, pastries and ice cream.

Salads with main plates, everything landed on the table in a record time; food is really good!

  • One hell of an escalope Milanaise, a thickly battered veal, fried to perfection keeping its heart moist served with tortellini spaghetti and an Italian tomato sauce.
  • The goat cheese salad is so big, so generously filled and so tasty! The walnuts, the toasted bread, cheese slices and crab with shredded carrots and fresh lettuce.
  • You have to order the endives and blue cheese salad with walnuts; it’s so good!
  • The clubs are a must try, salmon or duo, loaded with light mayonnaise; a soft bread, a salad in the middle and lettuce to decorate this huge plate.

Excellent food is served here! It’s a better version of Angelina and Laduree’s food combined. Loved the bread, the portions, the flavors and the presentation. The real meaning of brasserie food taken seriously and cooked with love. I feel like I should be talking about the food more! It’s so good!

Sitting inside I could count the dozens of walk-ins coming for their lunch boxes; they were not mistaken to come here!

Loved the food, adored their desserts. A gourmet Mont Blanc I’ve never had before, probably the crunchier yet, the lighter fig tart you can ever expect savoring, a chocolate macaron Ladurée couldn’t do with an intense chocolate up to Pierre’s Marcolini knowhow and a hot chocolate way better than Angelina’s. Is it me or is it the reality; does Carette create better versions of the known desserts in Paris but isn’t as famous? I have a new Coup de Coeur; it’s called Carette.

PS: the apple tart is way better than the Austrians do it! Thin and flaky, infused with cinnamon and competed with soft apples. Yummy!

I honestly didn’t know this place existed before; I’ve heard about the restaurant but not the dessert bar which offers better and tastier quality than thousands of other pastries in town.
