Driving on the internal road of “Jal el Dib,” a new restaurant caught my attention; Caviar has been open for the last two months in Metn. After serving Furn el Chebbak for two years, it was time to open another branch. Sushi restaurant and lounge, the place oozes positive vibes — a floor covered with wood, stone decorating the wall, warm yet strong lighting, and wooden tables. Classy and simple, the restaurant is your neighborhood eatery where eating is a moment of happiness away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Browse the menu, a thick book where every item is explained with text and picture — starters, salads, yakitoris, soup, sashimi, sushi, temaki, futomaki, ura maki, special ura maki, dragon maki, state of the arts (sushi sandwich and sushi burger), set menus, hot dishes, Italian specialties, desserts.
Other than the sushi selection, Caviar has four choices of Italian plates for the person who’s accompanying you. How many times have you craved sushi but unfortunately your partner or friends did not feel like it.
The owner on premise, he suggested to choose for us. Start with the Shrimp dynamite: few restaurants have managed to create those as good as PF Chang’s, the creator. Deep fried and battered, the balls of shrimp marinated in a signature spicy sauce are the best first impression one can have.
When you receive a big rectangular plate beautifully decorated with lines of sauce and loaded with eight big pieces of maki rolls, the Rain dragon is made of breaded crab and avocado wrapped with salmon, tuna, shrimp, white fish, and unagi. It’s so yummy! The taste for sure but the quality of ingredients. The rolls have clear know-how, a perfect balance, an equilibrated taste, and interesting textures.
Premium quality from Royal Gourmet, the salmon is excellent! Queen eel, Ori, Hotty, Fuji, and Akuri followed. It’s not the taste, not the shape but the freshness and balance. I’m not sure if the Lebanese word “Naffas” applies to Japanese food and believe me it does at Caviar. Passion and love, the attention of the owner spending his night pampering his guests. Sushi rolls are good, really good... sometimes you discover good things in unlikely places; I wouldn’t have imagined!
I would recommend this sushi place for my friends.
