Nine years, nine long years here in Paris, Chez Le Libanais, is a small shop that serves the best wraps. I came across it by accident on Foursquare while looking for the best wraps in Paris. Walk in and let Elie and Gaby serve and entertain your taste buds.
It's a small shop on Saint Andre des Arts, a Lebanese cantina with two Saj ovens. Nine years in the business, they have been and still are preparing wraps and manakish. Kafta with hummus, Zaatar, cheese and turkey, shawarma and many others. Funny and welcoming, two men behind the counter mingle and joke while local music plays in the background.
Proudly Lebanese and proud to be in Paris, the place was fully booked on a Wednesday night. The place is a bit tight with a long bar facing the open kitchen. The vibes are simply enchanting.
What shall I order? "Everything is tasty the man replies!" A typical Lebanese answer. So I chose for myself.
Chicken, meat, dajaj, chich tawouk, fish, bastorma, arayess, the Lebanese pizza, stuffed grapevine leaves, labor and the donuts which are no other than kebbe, sambousik, Sfiha and fatayer. Finish it in an endnote of Halawa and jam.
It’s all about the wraps here. Wraps made from organic flour is thrown on the Saj and ready to be filled with amazing ingredients. Extremely crunchy and tender on the inside, these wraps are amazingly tasty. I have never tasted anything like it in Lebanon.
- The cheese and turkey is full of taste. It’s not a wrap; it’s a delicious sandwich. The fresh vegetables, molten cheese and the fine quality turkey, flavorful pickles and the tomatoes. The mustard makes all the difference.
- The shawarma wrap is awesome! Tender meat wrapped in flavors and vegetables. It’s superb!
- Wait until you try the kafta. Kafta meat is spread on the wrap, left to cook on the Saj then inserted in the salamander, vegetables and enjoy. It’s juiciness is simply exceptional. This place made me proud of being Lebanese.
Nothing more can be said. Surely the best wraps in Paris. Proudly Lebanese these sandwiches are to die for. If I were you, I would visit this place the next time I'm in Paris.
