The Fourth is one of the restaurants at Hyatt Union Square hotel in New York, a hotel I stayed at for 10 days during my trip to the Big Apple. I headed to The Fourth daily for breakfast and enjoyed it, so why not try it during dinner.
Seated by the glass window with a street view, I started to enjoy the warm ambiance and music coming from the Brazilian restaurant down below. Looking around, I saw candles light up the tables, yellow lanterns pend down from the high ceiling, while the bar was busy with guests enjoying a drink.
The menu is small. A choice of a la carte preset menu for $46 where you choose one starter, a plate and dessert or choose from a selection of appetizers and entrees. The choices are not much so I decided to have the Burrata salad, spaghetti and their organic Scottish salmon.
What put a smile on my face was seeing a Lebanese wine on the wine list. Merwah & Obaideh, Chateau Musar Blanc, Bejaa Valley, Lebanon 2005.
The Burrata with fresh tomatoes kind of salad served on a round plate. Half a Burrata with melting heart is presented with olive oil, lemon and grind pepper with a selection of four kinds of tomatoes. Red and yellow cherries with two big sized tomatoes one blood red and one yellowish. I loved the seasoning, the quality of the tomatoes and the Burrata, which is molten and tasty.
Delicious spaghetti cooked aldente in tomato juice, sour and fresh mixed with cherry tomatoes. Thick spaghetti with shredded basil leaves and Parmesan. They are really good. I was craving for some Italian food while I was in NY and this place satisfied my needs. I loved it.
The salmon is exceptional. Beautifully presented, the plate includes a piece of salmon laid on a bed of quinoa with cucumber and yogurt mix on the side. Perfectly cooked, the salmon is moist and tender with to crispy skin in top offering a punch of lemon juices and flavors. Quinoa is well cooked, cucumbers are crunchy and the yogurt adds flavor. Bravo!
But don’t order desserts! Crème caramel and ice cream sundae are not only bad but they were disgusting.
Enjoy lunch or dinner and skip dessert to leave happy and satisfied.
