It’s an experience called “Freehand” where the vibes are fresh, food is great and rooms are unique. I’m in love with their breakfast, “Studio” the morning eatery “Smile on the Go” for lovely sandwiches and bites and the rooms which are fresh, simple and offer a view on Manhattan: one bed, two windows, and fast internet. A big red sign, funny designs on the glass, push the door and discover a classy design inspired by forests of the Amazon. I felt some positive vibes and knew it’s going to be a pleasant experience.
Freehand is located in Gramercy, a big building hosting two restaurants and a cafe as well as a shop by the reception. Wearing red outfit, the staff welcomes you in a positive atmosphere checking you in.
“Located in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, Freehand New York is housed in the former George Washington Hotel—once home to many storied writers, musicians, and creatives. Designed by Roman and Williams and featuring custom-commissioned artwork by Bard College students and alumni throughout, Freehand is revitalizing the artistic community in a historic NY neighborhood.”
The room is small, yet relaxing and bright. With a big bed facing two windows, you’ll enjoy New York and its vibrant streets. The bathroom on another hand is smaller than the one up in the air; I never had a sink that small and showers, where moving your hands is a hard task. Covered with wood, the bathroom feels warm and soothing like a cottage up in the mountains.
I liked the design feel of this hotel, the wood used everywhere, the fluffy beds, the working desk, the fast internet and the breakfast experience. I’ve been to “Studio” twice already and will do again if I have the chance to.
Not your conventional stay, a young and fresh hotel in the heart of New York at walking distance from a handful of great discoveries; it’s called Freehand and I like it.
