I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long! Ten years since I last visited and still remember to date the superb food I had. Fuor D’Acqua, the restaurant under the stone arcades, decorated in white and painted with salmon colors. Soft music, professional welcoming, and a complimentary drink of sparkling wine to start. I was so excited... I felt like waiting for the whole menu.
The manager approaches, proposes a tasting formula or choose from the menu. Fuor D’Acqua is known to serve amazing spaghetti. A basket of hot focaccia and we were ready to hit the road of taste. Meanwhile, I enjoyed the simplicity of the classy decor. Ironed white tablecloth, Riedel crystal glasses, silver cutlery and metallic baskets for the bread.
Dinner started with a sharing platter of raw seafood the Italian way. It’s not sashimi; you cannot add soy sauce to it but enjoy it only with olive oil. Fresh fish from the market, daily arrivals I loved. So fresh, they don’t even have a smell. Scampi, red tuna, and white fish. Add lemon of some, add olive oil on others... what a great way to start your dinner!
Calamari! The softest, the smoothest, the most tender calamari I’ve ever tasted. Pure white color, cooked to perfection, marinated to impress, the calamari comes from another planet. The needed amount of pepper, a drizzle of lemon, a lot of olive oil, a bed of arugula and tomatoes hosting the unique calamari. Yep thumbs up for such a simple yet unique creation. I could stop until I finished my portion and the one of my mother-in-law.
Fried shrimp chips followed; deep-fried battered shrimp ready to eat with your hand like chips. A great idea!
Best for last, the signature that made Fuor D’Acqua famous; the pasta dishes. Probably the best I’ve ever had, extremely well cooked -al dente- and mixed with one-of-a-kind sauces. Lobster and seafood linguini clams spaghetti and truffle and prawns tagliatelle; all exceptional! Amazing al the way, the taste, balance, and generosity of portions.
Bravo! I’m happy to have visited again! I’m happy to have come here after ten years. I’m happy to have met fellow Lebanese having dinner because the restaurant is one of the best in town. A drink to start, a drink to say goodbye; professionalism at Fuor D’Acqua and taste of food deserves a star.
