It feels good from the minute you walk in; an enclosed garden with a high ceiling, an air conditioned space, open kitchens throughout, a trip to the Italian countryside where all kinds of fresh fruits, cured ham, local cheese and vegetables are offered. Ginger is a happy place all painted in white and filled with white tables and chairs. I felt good and excited to try their food.

Walk in and be welcomed by the ham parlor, the bar next to it, the cocktail and salad bar to the left. On the right is the bread kitchen with more seating. Waiters wear white shirts and black pants with a high Panama hat to cover their hair. White marble tables and yellow place mats with two menus to choose from. I came here for breakfast. Eggs, sandwiches, pancakes and fruits are the main items.

Loved how the bananas are displayed, the pineapples and huge watermelon, the white lights hanging from the ceiling, the cured ham displayed at the entrance, the old style ham slicer, the large red basket hosting a handful of French baguettes, fruits and vegetables baskets set on the wall and the wide selection of wines.

From the menu choose from a selection of cheese and ham, gourmet sandwiches, vegetarian, fish and meat, vegan raw garden salads, desserts, organic desserts, energy bowls, fruit granite, healthy smoothies, fruit smoothies and ice cream.

Breakfast:

  • Acai, my all time favorite bowl, the one I eat at least twice a day in New York is given an Italian touch. Fresh and sweet Acai blended with crushed ice and mixed with granola, topped with bananas and strawberries.
  • The bread is good, not chewy like the French baguette, enjoyably crunchy, stuffed with your choice of cured or smoked meat, Parma ham or cheese. But tomatoes do not fit with a 24 month aged Parma ham. The lardo ham is 90% fat! Neither sandwiches have enough meat in them.
  • The eggs are a bit too oily for my taste, the bacon is too fatty and not cooked enough. Salt and pepper would have given the eggs more flavor.
  • The pancakes are more bread sandwiches than pancakes. Thin and chewy and lacking airiness. You feel the bananas and strawberries as well as the maple syrup more than anything else. Leave pancakes to the Americans.

Slow and unorganized service, average food...I expected much better!
