The building of Hôtel Langlois was constructed in 1870 and used as a bank until 1896. It was then converted into a hotel, managed by the same family until 1997 under the name "Hotel des Croisées". In order to be able to meet today's standards of comfort, old furniture has been restored and new items have been added while preserving the charm of the Belle Epoque and Art Nouveau reflecting the hotel's style and period. All paintings, sculptures and objets d'art are original, selected by the hotel management with great care at various art auctions.

Entering this 19th century building takes you back into a fairy tale of imaginations seen only in movies. Go up the old elevator before opening the heavy door's room to enter into a musical symphony of sounds. A squeaking floor that alarms the building when you walk and the moving bed that produces more sounds than a school bell. A new experience that wasn't negative specially in the ambiance and surrounding of architectural details kept as is since the first days of the hotel. Even though it's old, the hotel is clean. Room 54's special is the breakfast smell that wakes you up every morning, the aromas of toasted bread passing threw the chimney from the tiny dining area up to the roof.

The Room amenities:
  • Fridge
  • Air conditioning
  • TV (a bit too small for the room)
  • A couch and two sofas
  • A working desk
  • The bathroom: (shampoo, hair dryer)

The pluses:
  • Clean, cozy lighting, spacious rooms, calm hotel and location
  • The rooms are really spacious and wide. Great for claustrophobic people
  • A nice view on Paris' roofs
  • I like the funny curtain covering the door, making the room feel like a closed homogenous area in space
  • The Internet connection is free and fast
  • A decent and tasty breakfast for 13euros only: hard to find nowadays in the capital
The buffet breakfast offers a complete and unlimited choice of :
Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, squeezed orange juice, bread, pains au chocolat, pains aux raisins, croissant, butter, traditional jams (berries, apricot, peach, strawberry, bitter orange), honey (acacia, pine), cheese, feta cheese, free fat cheese, olives, cucumber, tomato, fresh fruits, cornflakes (three different choice with fruits, chocolate and plain), fruit salad, yogurt and eggs.

I would suggest little changes... Improvements:
  • It's a must to have tissues in the rooms
  • The bed is small for giants like me: I'm 1.87m and I didn't fit in it. Maybe you should consider some alternatives for taller people
  • TV channels do cover many countries but the main one is missing: EuroNews! Please!
  • The bathroom floor is extremely slippery and dangerous: Pay attention!
  • Room service stops at 2pm. Don't expect to have dinner at the hotel or even in the room
My verdict:
Hotel Langlois is one of the finest and cleanest three stars in Paris that I would surely recommend to my friends. Even though the welcoming and nice Turkish manager talks a bit too much, I enjoyed my stay.
