By the famous waterfall stop at hotel Skogafoss for lunch. A soup, a hot meal and a beer before continuing the tour around one of the world's most beautiful desserts; a white one! I'm in love with this country and everything it has to offer, from its welcoming people, its delicious food, its superb scenery and much more. Enjoyed my lunch today!
The concept is simple: order by the bar and be seated. A waiter will deliver the food when finished.
The meat soup to start, a plate of bread with its butter, a faded music while enjoying the waterfall in the background. The restaurant is surrounded with glass windows offering a 180 degrees views on the mountains and river. Soups, burgers, meat lovers, salads, pasta and sides.
Good to know; they don't have wifi and food is not cheap like any other restaurant I've tried in Iceland but wait, plates look like ones served in a fine dining restaurant.
Lunch is served:
- Loved the soup, big chunks of overcooked carrots making them melt under your teeth, tender meat and a full bodied tasty juice.
- Lamb leg, a local pride and they should be! Potato purée, bacon chips, a superb sauce and that big leg of lamb! Amazing...
- Local Arctic char fish, two filets of it with garlic potato purée and steamed vegetables. That's one kind of a great fish prepared to perfection, an exceptional plate with local flavors and knowhow.
Amazing, simply amazing… Food in Iceland is awesome!
