This French place is definitely worth trying out.
L'Avenue du Parc, situated in the heart of downtown Beirut, is one of the finest restaurants in town. Chef Alain Allaire serves the finest French dishes for lunch and dinner. The menu is very diversified: Soup, meat, salads, entrees, pasta, fish and sea food, and the house specialties include soups, salads, sharing plates, fish and meat.
There are 18 different choices of deserts.
The positive: Huge place with a nice bar, and I liked the decoration. The large portions come at an acceptable price and are served hot and fresh, while being accompanied by diversified wine choice.
The negative: The waiters are unprofessional and speak loudly about their restaurant problems behind our backs, they are all hyperactive with an obvious urge to serve and finish quickly.I would even go as far as to say they are impolite.
We started by the sharing dishes: Shrimp Spring Rolls with lemon sweet chili sauce, Thai style Crispy Calamari, Shrimp Dumplings with hoisin sauce. The Thai crispy calamari are out of this world. Covered with a crunchy layer, salty from the inside, sweet from the outside,—it’s is an amazing creation. For the main course, I chose the homemade Fouetté Gras 5 Baies and Fig Chutney followed by the Australian Black Angus Beef Filet with potatoes purée pepper sauce. The food is not too amazing, or delicious, but it’s clean.
Deserts are a must try: Frozen peanuts macaroon with nutella and vanilla, chocolate and banana tart with vanilla ice cream, raspberry Mille-feuilles, French toast with strawberry and vanilla ice cream.
A restaurant i would visit again to have the chance to taste more items from the menu.
