Breakfast at Lily’s Beirut: A New Chef is Needed!

On a beautiful Friday, down in Beirut, sitting on the sidewalk, enjoying fresh sunny spells and a refreshing sea breathe, I felt transported into another dimension, like if I traveled to the St. Germain Street in Paris and back. A busy city, people chit-chatting, women discussing their family problems while I dreamt... it felt good to sit here for a lunch meeting while enjoying Beirut, the future city of business and leisure. Located in the heart of Beirut’s triangle d'Or, try Lily’s, a restaurant and cafe trottoire which is also a bakery and pastry shop at the same time.

It starts by the details; the blue parasols, the marble tables with metallic frames, the design plates specially produced for Lily’s and the fully dressed waiters. Inside is another setup, more luxurious with two classy displays for bread and cakes. This restaurant reminded me of the restaurants up on the Trocadéro in Paris where one could eat and grab something to enjoy at home.

On the menu, find a selection of international dishes, serving your cravings from the early hours of the morning until late at night. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner; a French menu with Italian and Lebanese influences.

Loved my asparagus risotto; the quality of rice, the softness of the asparagus and taste of the cream. Fresh crab with summer rolls is a recommended sharing plate. My friends had the burger, and tuna tartare which they order every other week when having lunch at Lily’s.

Good service and good food in a pleasant ambiance in the heart of Beirut. I promised myself to be back for breakfast.
