Maison Thomas is a pizza place in Cairo is like no other pizza place in the Egyptian capital. With its old style decor, I was  reminded of Sherlock Holmes movies. It feels like an old English pub made of black wood and a ceiling painted in light beige. You'll find an open bar preparing the pizzas since 1922, 24 hours daily.

Behind the counter, three chefs prepare the pizzas, three sizes of them as well as a selection of pasta, sandwiches, hot meals, salads and quiches.

The menu: Pizzas, extra toppings, sandwiches, hot sandwiches, paellas, hachis, pasta, quiches, salads, homemade desserts.

A bit dramatic, the place has no music but a certain vibe I personally enjoyed. Fresh aromas and a busy kitchen cooking. Maurice the waiter took care of the order with such dedication serving drinks first.

A pizza that's not American and not Italian but something in between. The dough is perfectly mixed with a light crunch and a rich body, topped with a generous portions of ingredients - white calamari, juicy shrimps and melted cheese.

The Monaco is as good. I never thought I would enjoy roast beef and beef ham in a pizza, but this one is different. Rich tomato sauce, tender beef, lots of cheese and the same crunchy dough. With that, don't forget to ask for their signature spicy sauce. Chili pepper sauce with light spiciness but lots of other ingredients which add more flavor to every bite.

The Lasagna is enjoyable, but a bit soggy.

That's Maison Thomas, a good pizza in Cairo, an interesting experience one must try.
