Le Merou has been my favorite seafood address in Achrafieh on Sassine Square until they closed. After weeks of preparation, they moved to their new location in Mar Mikhael for a more significant and more exciting experience. Lebanese old tiles, blue decor and that big octopus decorating the ceiling. It feels good from the minute you walk in.

Le Merou is where seafood is handled with style by a team of professionals under the supervision of Mrs. Khweiry. The bar, the fish display, the oysters and lobsters aquarium, and the seating area. Light wood tables, metallic chairs, blue cushions and white walls of brick.

Who said you have to pay a fortune to enjoy Lebanese seafood? Why visit a Lebanese seafood restaurant serving Mezze when you can drive down to Mar Mikhael, sit, relax, enjoy the moment and have good food.

On the menu, Le Merou sells more than fish: a wide selection of salads, a handful of cold and hot appetizers, octopus plates, calamari plates, squid. The raw bar. Look for the seafood mains of which the all-week Siyyadieh, paella, lobster bisque, and seafood tagliatelle.

Food is served:

Great food is served here! Start with the grilled octopus, preordered to perfection and topped with shrimp, a handful of shrimp. Salted, peppered and drizzled with olive oil, the plate is gourmet using simple ingredients. I loved the tenderness of the eggplant, the strength of salt and the zesty lemon with olive oil adding a Lebanese touch of perfection. This is so good!

Hummus and octopus, have you ever imagined this combination? The combination that rocks, truffle oil, diced tender octopus and crunchy almonds. Bravo, a million times! I loved this mix that keeps a great after-taste in the mouth.

Have the seafood linguine; a loaded plate with shrimp, mussels, calamari, clams, cherry tomatoes, and much love. Loaded with flavors, the linguine is a hefty plate, a complete meal.

Chargrilled octopus, baby potatoes and paprika embraced in olive oil. A simple plate turned to be creative and gourmet — sliced octopus legs on a bed of boiled mini potatoes and a hefty sprinkle of paprika.

Rice and mussels stuffed in mussels clamps. A Turkish dish made it on the table of a Lebanese seafood restaurant. Then the octopus show arrived. A huge octopus, good to feed four persons and more, is cut in front of you — Lemon, butter and potatoes; the whole nine yards. “The octopus experience is not to be missed.”

The calamari experience followed; they are indeed “true experiences” of seafood. A significantly sized calamari, a gigantic octopus and all of this prepared in front of you — pleasure for the eyes, body and taste buds.

Sharing a meal at Le Merou is guaranteed satisfaction. Bring your friends and enjoy a moment of fun, smiles, happiness, and good food.
