For me, P.F.Chang’s is a coup de coeur. A place to escape, enjoy and have fun; a restaurant where the food and the service are good. I’ve been here several times, but that was more than a year ago, so my wife and I planned another visit on an early Saturday night. The menu has changed but the staff are the same professional staff who serve you better than you'll find elsewhere.
Whatever you want to call it, a Chinese restaurant or Californian Asian diner, I love it here and enjoy it every time I visit. The same great food since day one, professional service, generous plates, a pleasant ambiance... guaranteed satisfaction!
The menu has changed, it now has more pictures, less crowded choices, and hosts the signature selection of sushi. Starters, dim sum, salads, sushi, soups, wok-fried entrees (beef, shrimp, vegetarian and chicken), fish, noodles, rice and cocktails.
This month’s special theme, Shrimp Festival:
- Asian Caesar salad with lemongrass prawns
- Shrimp tempura roll
- Siu Mai Dim Sum
- I Do China garlic prawns
- Surf and turf
- General Tso's shrimp
- Chili shrimp and tofu
- Pineapple curry fried rice
- Three cocktails
Why have a soft drink when you can try one of P.F.Chang’s signature non-alcoholic cocktails. The cucumber mojito blended with cucumbers, mint leaves, ginger, and lime. This drink will leave you refreshed and relaxed. Served in a pitcher and a full glass of crushed ice, the green drink adds a soft sweetness to your lunch.
I loved the sushi rolls. They are crispy and stuffed with shrimp tempura, crab mix, cucumber and avocado served with spicy Japanese mayo. I loved the lightness of these rolls, the right amount of spice, the texture of the rice, the crispiness of the envelope and the richness of the sauce. A great roll but could do with more of the sauce which gives this plate its flavor. I would recommend a dip of the same yellow sauce on the side - which goes better than soy sauce with these rolls.
Dynamite shrimp: everyone tried copying them, P.F.Chang’s world famous unique dynamite shrimp. The one and only crispy shrimp served in a martini glass and marinated with this superb spicy and creamy sauce. I’ve had them everywhere, and yet the ones at P.F.Chang’s remain the best. The crunch, the soft heart, the flavors and after notes are all exceptional.
Wok charred beef: grill-like seared meat, perfectly caramelized with white shiitake mushrooms and sweet peppers. A must experience plate, the tenderness of the meat, the grilled flavor and enjoyable kick that leaves a pleasant taste in the mouth.
Almond cashew chicken is a journey on its own: super tender chicken breast mixed with cooked vegetables crunchy almonds and cashews. Indeed, as described in the menu, it’s unforgettable.
The desserts are even better than the food itself! Imagine a big square plate upon which is a red dessert. A red cake, layers of sponge and layers of cream cheese, carefully laid one on top of the other. The red velvet cake is not like just any red velvet cake; it’s much more than tasty, it’s orgasmic. It’s moist like sexy lips, flavorful like a fruit cocktail, soft like a sponge and balanced like a dream... I’d come back here just for this!
I still love this restaurant... even more than before!
