Everything American or the American dream like they call it is what this dinner is all about. Very old style dinner made of colored aluminum panels and stainless steel, the bar you see in movies, the old pie display, and two waitresses walking around refilling coffee for everyone. One of the few or probably the only diner to open at 7 am in Catskill, Selena serves breakfast as of 7 am, the whole nine yards of items presented on a dozen pages. It felt like Route66, no music, very cool, little lighting while the sun gave its reflections from behind the mountain peak.
Food is not good at all! Bulky portions served in used plates, and the vegetable omelet is kind of tasteless with crunchy vegetables and onions to cover on all others flavors. Eggs Benedict is better-called something else. Soggy bread, thick ham, and a watery sauce to spoil the experience. Pancakes are overcooked, unpleasantly crunchy, four of them thick pancakes with blueberry chips inside.
When you see a display filled with apple pies, you can’t but order one! Half warm and the other half cold, topped with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, the apple pie unpleasantly is gooey, extremely sweet and not fresh like if it was baked two days ago. It's not good!
Not a place I’ll come back to again... a very dull way to start your day, no music, bad food, no finesse, no flavors and no style, but honestly good coffee and welcoming service.
