I am back, but this time I came for the noodles... Sushi Shack's noodle bar is now fully operational and the best part is that it's close to my house.

On the menu there's a new selection of appetizers, soups, shack noodles and teriyaki served with rice: Garlic noodles, chicken noodles, shrimp noodles, spicy beef noodles, vegetable noodles and seafood noodles.

Other than the large selection of sushi and makis, I went for three plates to have a complete idea of their noodle menu. So, I tried the shrimp noodles (with carrots, green and red pepper), the spicy beef noodles (with zucchini and green beans) and the seafood noodles (shrimp, scallop and red snapper).

The first impression:

  • Customers should have the ability to choose the size and style of the noodles. Is it a noodle bar, or a simple sushi restaurant with noodles on the menu?
  • I love beef but why am I obliged to have it with a spicy sauce? Another, spice free, beef option should be available – for example.

I’ve already reviewed Sushi Shack which I liked and appreciated…

Let's see about the food:

  • The combo salad has a bit too much mayonnaise in it, but has a strong spiciness I enjoyed. Other than being very generous, the salad is a recommendation.
  • I loved the salmon sashimi, fresh, oil-free and offering an enjoyable, light texture that melts under the teeth.
  • I liked the noodles. I loved their firm feel, their texture and how they were cooked, which was close to al dente. They were richly mixed with their contents and ready to be enjoyed. I would personally serve them in a bowl, not a plate and, most importantly have different choices of noodles, and it’s a noodle bar after all!
  • Now for the Japanese selection. The Temaki is great, a thick, crunchy, fresh nori leaf wrapped around an over-generous portion of salmon and a bit of rice. Over filled with fish, thank you, but I'd make it a bit smaller.
  • The maki rolls are all good. A well cooked rice, crispy crisps, tasty fish and just a little sauce.

The Pluses:

  • Kudos for changing the lights: now the place has a warm and soothing ambience that fits a restaurant
  • Thank you for changing the plates to white ones, which don't look dirty anymore.
  • I enjoyed the maki rolls quite a lot.

I'd Change:

  • The spices are way too spicy, beware! Use a sauce that's less spicy
  • The strong, pink ginger is not the finest I've had, it's a bit too commercial for my sight and taste.
  • Get black pencils which will fit more with the place's decor
  • "Noodles Bar", with what's available right now, I'll change the restaurant's name
  • I'd make the noodle portions a bit bigger and serve them in a bowl, not a plate

With smooth jazz playing in the background, a warm lighting, professional and attentive staff, tasty food... I still recommend this place.
