The only castle hotel in Paris is called the St.James which is also a Relais&Chateaux. With style and luxury, handled by a perfectly trained staff, this place is an experience one must try. Arrive to an outside court centered with a fountain, pass it then walk to the reception. Inside this beautiful mansion decorated with mirrors and shining chandeliers, you'll feel transported in time to the years of the French monarchy.

Arrived at 8pm, checked in and ran to experience their starred restaurant. Step inside, and you’re now surrounded by the elegant madness of Bambi Sloan. Like in a dream, this unimaginable mix of styles turns temporal and spatial markers on their heads. Here, the Second Empire meets virtually every other decorative period, with inspiration coming from everywhere, while its crowning glory, “Chandelier Chaos”, soars 14 metres overhead.

Particulier is a word with two meanings, and the Saint James Paris embodies both. It is an architectural jewel that now welcomes paying guests. A hôtel particulier in every way.

In fact, the Saint James Paris is so special it almost defies definition. Built in the 19th century on the site of Paris’ first aerodrome, it was the neoclassical home of the Thiers Foundation for over a century. Today the Saint James Paris remains an exuberant masterpiece, but more so than ever before. It's a bourgeois estate, a château and an experience to treasure. Where priceless expertise delights every sense.

Dinner was exquisite and refined, I felt pampered in all senses of the word, enjoyed a delicious dinner before going up to the room with a view on the hotel's main court. The room is wide for an hotel in Paris, a double bed, sofa and working desk. A large bathroom with a side toilet, three windows, paintings to decorate the walls and a soft carpet to keep it warm and smooth. The bed is a bit harder than it should be and the air conditioning unit makes more noise than one can handle for a night but I slept like a baby excited to try their breakfast.

The Saint James Paris is a tranquil, classical hideaway in the middle of Paris' coveted Rive Droite, just a stroll from the Arc de Triomphe and Trocadéro. Perfect for visiting the Palais des Congrès, the Musée d’Art Moderne and the Fondation Louis Vuitton. For enjoying a stroll along Avenue Victor Hugo. Or just basking in sheer perfection.

Breakfast is served from seven to ten every morning in the same restaurant. Served on the terrace surrounded by green trees from all shades and shapes, you are transported away from the city's hustle and bustle. A buffet or a la carte menu. Enjoyed their bread, salmon and cheese, flaky and buttery croissants, fresh fruits and yogurt as well as the eggs Benedict that has a perfect taste but was unfortunately served cold. Super tender English muffin, premium thickly cut ham, lemony hollandaise and a flowing poached egg. It feels classy!

Enjoyed the salmon quality, the ham taste, the juiciness of the cake, the freshness of the croissant, the almond milk, how fruits are presented in cups, the coffee quality and silver cutlery.

A pleasant experience, enjoyed the room, attention and service. Loved the food and every little detail that makes of this castle a real Relais&Chateaux experience. A fine hotel in Paris is called Saint James.
