I felt transported the second I walked in... I felt enchanted the minute I read the info on their website. At The Hood, every detail counts from the color of their logo to the music played and the location was chosen. The neighborhood where people meet, have fun, sans-façon and without boundaries. Food is Asian, unconventional -very unconventional! I’ve never had breakfast in Singapore so why not try it in Paris.
I asked for help to understand their menu. Kaya toast is the signature toast with coco, pandan and gula melaka. The double sous eggs are cooked for an hour and a half leaving the white watery and the yellow hard. The tea eggs are special I hear. The signature green cake called pandan chiffon and the freshly squeezed juices... I didn’t know where to start; all that was important for me is “No garlic”.
I loved the vibes and the music but honestly not the service which lacked finesse and attention. The waiters are brusk. The white tea was a recommendation and I do ask you to order it as well. Its aromas are so soothing awakening feelings of tenderness and calmness. I felt like going back home, sitting on the couch on a cold winter day and eating that toasted cheese sandwich.
Mmmm... yummy cake!!!! Very juicy and flavorful cake. Excellent granola; addictive! And the main plate is unexpectedly delicious. Two toasts spread with something like peanut butter, a kick of sweetness and a side of eggs. I loved the eggs infused with tea and also the other watery “Asian poached” eggs.
I can no easy that I had Singaporean breakfast for the first time and I loved it!!!
