It's luxury at its finest, a place where they get the details right, a fine hotel located on Piazza della Republica, a five star where every detail is taken into account to make your stay memorable. Ten floors of rooms, a big hotel, the bar, the beautifully decorated restaurant and a room which is relaxing for a week's stay.
Príncipe de Savoia is considered as one of Milan's most luxurious hotels with a history dating back decades. Hotel Principe di Savoia, or simply referred to as The Principe, is a five-star hotel in Milan, Italy. The hotel has long become one of Milan's Landmarks. Founded under the name of "Principe e Savoia" in 1927, a time when Milan had already established its position as financial center of the country, it soon became a home for businessmen.
A palace, a doorman welcome you, and there's valet parking and a big reception team on duty 24/7. A large lobby made of golden colors and reflective materials where the caffe takes place. Up front is the concierge desk where three gentlemen, a smile on their face, await to serve you.
Up in the room, a normal room, is a king size bed, a television with all the channels you might need, a view of the main road where a tram passes every quarter of the hour and a relaxing, large bathroom. Relaxing it is, smooth, a small room where you can spend a week without any negative encounters.
Let's state things separately:
- Staff: Very professional, welcoming, smiley and trained. You feel pampered and special every time one of them passes by you.
- Ambiance: A palace indeed, where music plays, where cleanliness is key and where any question is answered immediately.
- Breakfast: Enough choices, an amazing staff, delicious food, complementary Eggs Benedict and pancakes, flavorful coffee. A pleasant way to start your day. I love the open kitchen concept where you see the chefs in action.
- Bathroom: The details in the bathroom are amazing and the amenities are just right. They even have a scale, a hairdryer and a small sofa to sit on while doing your makeup.
- Sleep: Adequate pillows, a good bed, a refreshing air conditioning unit.
Five nights, six days where everything went smoothly. I love when the staff call you by your family name, and when smiling and welcoming becomes part of your life without having to fake it. I enjoyed the decor that's traditional but that also fits the young generation. I enjoyed the food.
- The bad: The free internet is slow, very slow.
- The unacceptable: Expect to pay €60/night for the car park. Way too much! The maximum I remember paying at a hotel around Europe is €30 and believe me I've been to a lot of hotels.
- My recommendation: Ask for a room away from the tram route.
A palace, a five star, luxury at its finest, a place I'll come back to.
