Food from the heart

“Gestures from the Heart” saw the light on Christmas 2011 through a very spontaneous project on Facebook. As soon the project was posted donations from all over the world started to flow. The goal of the project was to put joy and hope in the heart of the needy people.

It is always assumed that the elders are well taken care of. They are safe within the custody of their families. This is what initial studies show. As we explored further we found out a lot of elderly rejected by their children as well as needy families and widows with no resources waiting for the neighbor to help or other occasional community’s assistance.

For the 3rd consecutive year “Gestures from the Heart” has been launching its annual Christmas project “ Food from the Heart” aiming to provide food packs for 150 deprived families and abandoned elderly, a Christmas party for kids as well a Christmas dinner for a number of families. “Gestures from the heart” is a NGO registered in the Lebanese Ministry of Interior under the decree No 1452.

As part of the fundraising for the ‘Food from the Heart’ project, a Bake Sale will be held this year on the Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of December 2013 at City Center Dora starting 16:30. In order to ensure the success of this very important fundraiser, we are seeking contributions to help defray the costs associated with the event, so that all funds raised can go directly toward the community. You can contribute to the bake sale by providing any homemade baked foods (cakes, cookies, biscuits, etc.) by the Friday the 20th of December at most, where all items will be prepared and packed to be ready for display the next day.

Generous donors like you are the key to our success and make it possible for us at ‘Gestures from the Heart’ to provide local individuals and families in need with assistance and critical services.  We hope that we can count on your support.

We found that there is an alarming urge to take immediate action and help. What is required is not just the occasional food distribution but also the provisioning of sustainable help for them. We need to improve their life style and push them up the scale from the ‘below poverty line’.
