In the heart of Heathrow Terminal 5, Wagamama, one of my favorite restaurants, which I first discovered in Istanbul, welcomes you for lunch. A restaurant hosting several long tables where guests eat together. Sides, donburi, ramen, teppanyaki, omakase, curry, and salads are the menu categories serving a selection of Asian specialties revisited the Wagamama way.
A little ginger to warm you up. Chilies that kick, noodles to nourish the body and soul. Wagamama Asian inspired menu has been created to soothe, nourish, sustain and inspire. Pick from all kinds of rice and noodle dishes, alongside fresh salads and shareable sides. There are desserts, fresh juices, hot drinks, wine, sake and expertly crafted Asian beers too.
A warming bowl of bold ramen. Teppan griddled to perfection. Or if you would rather rice, you’re in luck - the menu features many Japanese favorites. Fresh, authentic menus that are updated seasonally. Wagamama is a staple of modern Asian cuisine.
So at Wagamama, everything contains garlic! Every single plate on this varied menu except edamame! The waiter couldn’t take my order; the manager approached with a big book of recipes then the chef interfered to find a solution. I ended up eating beef and seafood cooked in water without the stock. And I waited...
Before I start eating! Expect to smell oil and onions all day long. The open kitchens frying hundreds of plates a minute will haunt you with their smell all day long.
Let’s eat:
- Edamame: as good as any examen should be.
- Beef with vegetable rice: a load of pea shoots, crunchy greenery, salt, oily rice and well-cooked meat. Yummy!
- Salmon with noodles; a mountain of noodles mixed with fresh vegetables and decorated with a big piece of grilled salmon. Super duper rich flavors of spicy noodles with crunchy vegetables intensely cooked in their oil and that juicy salmon on top. A yummy plate I couldn’t but finish completely.
- Seafood ramen: because t was cooked in water, not stock, the general taste is dull, but I imagine it to be unique if ordered as the chefs recommend it.
Big portions, a great service, positive vibes and tasty food; what else would want to expect at an airport.
Still a favorite restaurant, unfortunately not the best place for people with garlic intolerance like me. Heathrow Terminal 5 is the address; you will really enjoy it.
