World Cup Specials: Roadster, Deek Duke, Crepaway or Shawarmanji?

It was delivery night and not just any delivery but a special 'World Cup' one. I ordered a World Cup meal from some of the many diners around town proposing specials during the football fever. Better late than never, this will give you an idea of what to order when watching the semi finals and finals...  Let's check out what Crepaway, Roadster, Deek Duke, Zaatar w Zeit and Shawarmanji are offering... I’m not sure if there are others out there, but missing these are next to impossible since their marketing campaign especially online, has been extensive... and in our faces the whole time...

On the same night, I called each one of them and ordered their world cup specials:
  • Crepaway: You can choose between 30 wings and 4 drinks, or 6 wings, a pizza, twister fries and four drinks
  • Shawarmanji (Mondialji): You get 4 sandwiches, 2 fries and 2 drinks or 2 Shakermanji and 2 fries with 2 drinks
  • Deek Duke (The Football Pack): Two whole chicken (broasted or grilled) with 4 drinks, 2 fries and a 8 pieces of cheese balls
  • Roadster (The Dream Team Box): The dream team box has a large selection of appetizers

The offers and free goods:
  • Crepaway: Nothing, since nobody asked me to fill in a voucher (I heard afterwards that there is a PlayStation to be won)
  • Roadster: A trip for two to Barcelona
  • Deek Duke: A trip for two to Milan
  • Shawarmanji: The Caxirola
Football_World_Cup-Delivery_Combo_Meals_lebanon41 Let's watch the games:
  • Zaatar W Zeit were the first people we decided to contact. An operator with a dull voice answered and said that they only offer the World Cup specials to dine-ins and not delivery. Ok, I said, but the man didn’t propose anything else. He said thank you and goodbye. Let’s just say that the guy was demotivated on that day...
  •  Deek Duke were very professional, a delivery that came on time, well cooked, fresh and tasty. We had one broasted chicken that was juicy and oil-free, a chicken that’s cooked to perfection without having any pink residue. The grilled chicken was as good as the broasted one. All of the above sent in a red box specially designed for the World Cup. With that, two boxes of fries and another of cheese balls. An interesting meal for four people, which we enjoyed to the maximum. Prepared for the World Cup, the packaging is appealing and puts you in the spirit of the games.
Deek Duke
  • Roadster Diner's meal is only based on appetizers. You'll get a large tray divided into eight compartments filled with wings, potato dippers, mozzarella sticks, chicken strips, onion rings, tortillas and garlic bread. The food was fresh and crunchy, delivered hot and everything was perfect and enjoyable... the famous chicken strips, the tender mozzarella sticks, the new potato dippers...I loved the way it is presented, in a football field-like box and the idea of doing a draw for a trip. You live the World Cup experience. But the downside here is that this is not dinner but an appetizer combo. So you end up ordering dinner alongside the platter paying more than LBP100,000 in total.
Roadster
  • Crepaway, well after reading their slogan Game of Goals - All Men Must Dine... I was sure that what I was going to order was going to be feast. The first impression was "No Way!" Is that all? We received a pizza, a tiny portion of wings and an even tinier portion of curly fries. I asked for their pepperoni pizza that was way too spicy for a commercial pizza and included too much garlic... and it came with mushrooms... Bizarre. I’ve never heard of mushrooms and pepperoni together. The color of the wings reflects their taste - which was not good. Their packaging is not even branded with the “World Cup”, no gift, no draw... and not very tasty. Honestly, we didn't eat anything. If they are planning on competing with others they should offer something that's more thought off.

  • Shawarmanji offers a meal for two which includes four sandwiches, two fries and two drinks. Delivered in their normal packaging, nothing special for the football season. The meal finishes quickly although the game lasts an hour and half if not longer. The sandwiches are good and generously filled but I haven't been enjoying Shawarmanji's fries lately. I liked the idea of sending a caxirola as a gift with every Mondialji order, something that can immediately be enjoyed.
Shawarmanji Value for money:
  1. Roadster
  2. Deek Duke
  3. Shawarmanji
  4. Crepaway
My choice for the World Cup, taking into consideration the choices, prices, variety, packaging and taste:
  1. Roadster
  2. Deek Duke
  3. Shawarmanji
  4. Crepaway
My suggestion:
  • Order the appetizer combo from Roadster
  • And sandwiches from Shawarmanji for dinner
  • LBP52,000 + LBP31,500 = LBP83,500
  • That' a dinner for four (LBP20,875/person)
Which one will you be having?
