Breakfast at Ana La Santa Madrid

Vibrant, vast, classy and full of life, Ana La Santa is a restaurant on the Plaza de Santa Ana occupying the ground floor of an iconic white building. With a low ceiling, walls paints in white and beautiful painting decorating it in black and white, the restaurant blends design, modernism, and style at the same time. Glass separating the different spaces, round or square tables, wood, concrete, and carpets.

On the menu: Tapas, paella, fish and meat and sandwiches is what this place sells.

I was excited the minute I walked in: by the decor, the sounds of people talking, the waiters and their leather aprons, the white cloth covering the tables, the bar, the Iberico ham displayed at the entrance and the open kitchen. I felt this place and knew that I'd enjoy my dinner.

The aromas of food traveling around the restaurant made my mouth water; I felt like ordering all the menu.

I loved the food! I started with the filet meat of my kids cooked well-done and still juicy on the inside accompanied by French fries. Super juicy meat imported from heaven, not like any meat you’ve had before. Hand-cut French fries, salted to perfection, fried to shine with a crunchy border. Afterward, I jumped into the bowl of fried green chili pepper enjoying their spiciness and strength. My kid enjoyed his chicken as if it was a jar of Nutella. Food is good and passionately cooked.

Patatas Bravas are served in a casserole. Potato wedges, like any potato wedges but without the taste of commercial spices; feeling homemade, the potatoes melt under the teeth in style.

The Avocado roll with salmon tartare deserves a paragraph: avocado sliced in thin sheets and rolled around a mousse of salmon tartare like a sandwich. That’s gourmet French cuisine inspired from Japan. If you come here, order this plate before anything else.

The monkfish is well prepared giving it a firm texture and a juicy heart. As for the paella, it has a very strong taste of the sea which makes it unpleasant to eat. Served on a big pan with two wooden spatulas. The dish looks appetizing; unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy it, except the small lobster served on top.

A meal is not complete without a dessert despite the fact that it was ten at night already. Chocolate Baileys cake, creamy and sticky with a taste of Bailey's at the end. French toast with caramel ice cream and raspberry coulis. Best of the best is something simple and innovative at the same time; A bowl of pineapples cut in cubes, drizzled with lemon and decorated with mint leaves, served on a bed of ice.

After all, it was a good experience I’ll repeat. Excellent service, great vibes, and tasty food.
