On the early hours of the morning, surrounded by green gardens, sitting next to the fountain, enjoying the music of chirping birds and grabbing a coffee has become a dream come true, for the Metn residence. Before the neighboring restaurants open and kids start running, arrive at Cafe Younes’ Blackcoffee for a treat. One of Lebanon’s latest local coffee shops is a Lebanese version of Starbucks serving specialty coffees and sandwiches.
Goat cheese and scrambled eggs on a bed of two slices of pain de Campagne. Juicy eggs mixed with a touch of acidity and style, creamy crumbles of goat cheese and much love! An excellent sandwich not even requiring a spread of sauce. I also had the labneh Tartine, simply labneh and olive oil on excellent quality bread. The bagel, Sunny size up with a spread of jam stuffed in a “Lebanese” bagel - I mean not the American bagel I expected but good enough. I enjoyed eggs and jam, an interesting combination and premiere for me.
Coffee: Cafe Younes’ coffee is the upcoming and rising brand of Lebanon, producing quality blends with style. I loved the acidity, the power, the smooth bitterness, and taste. American coffee I will repeat.
The pancakes!!! OMG! Excellent!!!! I’ve been dreaming of such pancakes, amazing fluffy pancakes, American quality pancakes and definitely, didn’t expect to eat them at a local coffee shop. Fluffy, light-bodied, airy and stuffed with bananas and Halawa with a drizzle of honey. Super duper yummy, balanced, equilibrated, and very tasty. Thank you for brightening my day and drawing a smile on my face!
