Bocca Di Bacco: A Recommended Italian in Berlin

Four years passed and I still remember it as if it was today; one of Berlin’s finest Italian restaurants was fully booked on a Saturday evening. A garlic clove printed on a large canvas, pasta plates paintings, chili pepper, grapes among other ingredients of the Italian cuisine. Divided into several sections, Bocca Di Bacco is one big restaurant welcoming you for a drink, intimate dining or casual group gathering..

Filled with several round tables, other square ones, and a large rectangular communal table, Bocca Di Bacco has the feel of a fine dining French restaurant with the vibes of an Italian eatery. Dine-in style, enjoy the warm lights, walk in front of the wine cellar, or spend your time contemplating the paintings.

White tablecloth, two forks, two knives, Schott Zwisel wine glasses, thick whisky glasses for water, alessi salt and pepper mills and a silver candle chandelier to decorate the table’s center. On the menu, you can find a selection of pasta, risotto, meat, fish and some appetizers. The menu has changed since I first visited.

The bread basket first landed on the table; sourdough, salted focaccia and French baguette coupled with olive oil, the waiter serves for every person. Sparkling water or still, Italian brands landed on the table. I was excepted to start eating.

Excellent, the food is excellent! Beautifully cooked al dente, linguini have been prepared by a connoisseur. My daughter’s linguini Alfredo is cooked al dente, hard textured, creamy without being heavy or gooey. My son’s tomato sauce linguini is a masterpiece, creating art with simplicity. I had the checks with chanterelles mushrooms and mayo mustard sauce. Thinly sliced cheeks meat carpaccio decorates with chanterelles mushrooms and drips of homemade mayo sauce. Good food indeed!

Then the main course: Whole grain tagliatelle with pesto, tomatoes and eggplant. Different then your average pomodoro, the pasta are really creative. Simple, classy and gourmet. Al dente, rich in flavors, olive oil and cooked vegetables, the pasta has a faded taste of grilling and smoking. I also had the risotto and loved it. Fusilli with chanterelles... yummy! On another hand, make sure to mention your garlic allergy cause the linguini clams and pomodoro were loaded with aromas haunting the restaurant.

Wow, the almond crème brûlée is a culinary achievement! So creamy, so smooth and well balanced, it caresses your tongue like velvet.

Good food, good mood, pleasant vibes... everything that will make you want to visit again. I loved, for the second time, “Bocca Di Bacco” making sure to recommend it to all my friends visiting Berlin.
