This family-owned restaurant in Watkins Glen opens at 7 am and welcomes local families for a traditional American diner. Steak and eggs, Eggs with fries, omelet and pancakes, this diner propose loaded things, not for the faint of heart. One hour from Geneva, arrive at a calm village where Burger King, Pizza hit, and Dunkin’ Donuts have big restaurants.
No Music, a calm space managed by an old lady, a paper in her hand walks around her tables for the orders. I liked the place’s homey feel: the carpet, wooden benches, the lack of colors, the green leather chairs and wooden benches that are not relaxing at all; people come here to eat!
At the table, like all traditional diners, you can spot a ketchup bottle, spicy sauce, and sweetness. Coffee is served with cups of cream.
Big loaded plates landed in the table: two eggs with a piece of steak and grilled potatoes. Another plate of ham and cheese omelet and the four pancakes. Food is average, very average like any omelet you eat at home. Meat is not cooked medium but more of well done. The pancakes are chewy and lack fluffiness.
Food to fill up your stomach, not the experience I expected from a family owned restaurant. Check out the photos; light helped to make them appetizing.
