The Smith: A Great Ambiance, Quality Food

I like it here, I like their food, the mood, the vibes, the smooth decor and loud music. I've been here for dinner and now am back to experience breakfast at one of New York's famous eateries, The Smith. Under a wooden ceiling and with a view onto the busy street ahead, I sat to indulge in some eggs and pancakes.

I really love it here, that long bar, the wooden tables and traditional mosaic floor, the suspended lights, the metal and bottle display... I was sure the food was going to be great!

Indeed, breakfast was memorable. The eggs Benedict were awesome, heavy but extremely flavorful and cooked to perfection. Poached eggs with a flowing yolk, a unique Hollandaise sauce - creamy, full bodied and enjoyably lemony. The muffin is also memorable, thin with a crisp crust and a soft heart. Bravo a hundred times for such a creation, which I can gladly recommend as amongst the best eggs Benedict in New York.

I continued and had their avocado in toast. A mountain of salad with two pieces of toast and two poached eggs. Fresh, light and healthy, with a generous portion of ripe avocado. There's a spicy after-note and an intense explosion of lemon. But the sandwich needs a bit more balance, more flavor to the avocados, more juiciness to the bread.

OMG... the pancakes are breathtaking! The fluffiest ever, the tastiest ever, soft and smooth, creamy and moist at the same time, that finesse... and it's not over yet; they are covered with a balanced caramel sauce and decorated with crunchy pecans. OMG... it's awesome!

French toast is a plate, or shall we say a mountain, of very thick pain de mie marinated in milk and butter then topped with caramelized bananas. They're good. Soft and not over buttery bread ...just add some maple syrup for that necessary touch of sweetness.

I love it here and will surely recommend it to all my friends for when they visit New York.
