A blissfully urban space: where metal, wood and leather create a world of Urbanista's own inside ABC Dbayeh. With industrial concrete walls, a two-level seating area, a salad bar, an island where coffee and drinks are prepared... Urbanista is your all-day coffee place nestled in one of Metn's popular shopping malls. It's calm and cozy, beautifully and intelligently designed and serves a wide choice of food in a comforting ambiance.
I arrived at 10:30am for breakfast. A selection of breakfast choices, burgers, sandwiches and salads are served until the mall closes.
I loved the metallic structure and industrial lights suspended from the ceiling, the wooden tables and Chesterfield leather sofas that surround the space.
The menu, in two colors, is printed on recycled paper and offers sandwiches, salads, a salad bar, organic eggs, starters, soups, mains, cocktails and desserts.
Breakfast is served!
- A yummy croissant - light, flaky and buttery with two fingers of dark chocolate inside. I enjoyed it, every single aspect of it, its aromas, pastry quality and texture.
- A cup of yogurt - a mini cup with a mix of yogurt and berries topped with granola. A good and fresh granola, berries with yogurt but a mix that's unpleasant to eat. A very small cup and portion which would be better served in a bowl so as to not spill over.
- The Halloum sandwich: sesame bread stuffed with grilled halloumi, spicy tomato reduction, cucumbers, mint leaves and olives. This sandwich is good enough... the bread is the prominent element, the sauce is enjoyably spicy but needs more freshness. The sandwich in general is dry making it a bit hard to swallow. I expected better.
- Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon with avocado cubes and lemon. A metallic pan in which the eggs are prepared is presented with a brown baguette on the side served with cinnamon apples. Juicy and moist eggs, fresh and ripe avocados, good quality salmon and some lemon bringing the whole dish together with heightened flavor. Tasty.
Service was good enough for a mall. The music was a bit annoying as the cafe was playing its own which clashed with ABC's. But with organic bread, a fresh salad bar, a wide selection of items, there is an enjoyable ambiance nevertheless.
It was an enjoyable breakfast. When I spotted that the cakes are by Oslo, I was sure the taste was going to be good. But I skipped it this time considering that I had a long day of many tasting sessions ahead.
