A bar at the entrance takes you to a vast restaurant facing an open kitchen. Metal and industrial materials, wood, cupboards and kitchen utensils blending together into a marriage of colors. Touches of yellow, pink flowers, red garbage bins and colorful paintings. Despite not having enough daylight, the place feels positive and fresh. Sit and relax, have a coffee, enjoy the soothing tunes... the place is inviting.

Starting to write my notes, I remembered coming here and staying at the hotel back in January of 2017. The rooms were old but the breakfast part was memorable: the croissant sandwich, the eggs Benedict and the same great vibes.

I loved the wood, the wooden square tables, the black metal used here and there, the dimmed lights surrounding the space, the cupboards lit on the inside, the relaxing leather sofa, the pickles jars and the busy beehive of chefs carefully preparing food for customers satisfaction.

From the minute I walked in, I started taking pictures, here and there, an endless number of photos for every corner of this special space. I looked weird and the manager didn’t stop me. I was happy and excited!

On the menu, Covina proposed pastries from Balthazar, a morning Greek yogurt, croissant breakfast sandwich, lemon ricotta pancakes, eggs the way you want them, avocado toast. A simple yet innovative menu you will enjoy; I ordered everything!

And I should out loud... “c’est bon, c’est très bon!”. The croissant sandwich stuffed with bacon and American cheddar cheese and two eggs is outstanding. So buttery, so rich, so flavorful and balanced. A journey through excitement that starts on an early morning setting the tone for a day of enjoyment! The croissant comes with a mountain of fresh greens on the side.

Avocado toast might be a simple name but not a simple creation: ripe avocado mashed into a purée, spread on a thick and tender pain de campagne wheat bread, sprinkled with seeds and crowned with two poached eggs. Feel the creaminess of the avocados, the tenderness of the bread, the light crunch of the seeds, the smoothness of the -perfectly-poached eggs and an end kick of spiciness.

When food is as good, it’s made of one ingredient... love! The Kitchen’s passionate chefs will make you want to come here again.

More was yet to come, the sweet part; wouldn’t have imagined being impressed by a plate of yogurt. Considering that i’m not a big fan of yogurt, I fell in love with this sumptuous plate. A creamy yogurt that’s not acidic and not sweet topped with thinly sliced strawberries and a handful of berries with a sprinkle of homemade granola and a drizzle of local honey. Refreshing and light all by being extremely tasty and addictive.

Four thick and fluffy pancakes mixed with ricotta cheese, drizzled with lemon curd cream and decorated with fresh berries. Add maple syrup and enjoy a gourmet version of your conventional pancakes. They are fluffy and airy, light and spongy.

A memorable breakfast I’ll recommend to all my to all my friends; flavors of simplicity and style in a calm and soothing ambiance.
