A new homemade preparation tried and enjoyed...

As I mentioned in my previous review about Feuillantine, this place is one of my favorites. Simple and calm, clean and clear, you go there to have a pleasant meal with your friends knowing that no one will bother as they only have two tables.

You choose your wine, your champagne, your meal and even your pastry choice for the fridge. I wanted some ice-cream so I grabbed my favorite chocolate ice-cream produced by Oslo.

That day, a special surprise was waiting for us. The owner, who's a MEA Airlines Captain had opened a delicious box of fresh Foie Gras that we enjoyed with a bottle of French Champagne. Then and after starting with a rich selection of fasting food "Siyeme" buffet composed of ten different choices (Selek, batata, koussa, Batenjen, fattouch Batenjen, bemye, loubiye, dlouh bi tehine to name a few) we were offered to share, "Kebbe sajiye ". It is different for the usual meat Kebbe all Lebanese do since it contains nuts, butter and cumin with a red sauce acting as a dip (mouhammara): That dish is extraordinary, followed by remarkable mini Fatayer (zoubeh) that made our lunch.

Then we moved to the more serious stuff: The main platter was Boeuf Strogonov: Beef Stroganoff or Beef Stroganov is a Russian dish of sauteed pieces of beef served in a sauce with sour cream. That dish is one of my favorites. To be very honest, its preparation at Feuillantine was not the best. I prefer it with a rice less cooked, less onions, a little more tender meat and thicker sauce.

For dessert a variety of homemade cakes was for us to pick from. I wanted to try the Bahamas. Until now, the best Bahamas cake (Composed of cream and Bananas coated with chocolate) in town is found at Pate A Choux Pastry chop in Sodeco, Achrafieh. Yes, Feuillantine has the same cake with the same taste. I really enjoyed every bite by feeling the ingredients move along my palate. This is the only  food I eat with my eyes closed as it is so passionate.

The Wine we tried: Clos de Qana 2004: A very good Lebanese Wine

Clos de Cana, Vineyard of Cana, lies at the very heart of Mount Lebanon, in Ras el Harf area, 1000 meters above sea level and 18 kilometers from Beirut; it enjoys 3200 hours of sunshine per year. Clos de Cana overlooks the valley eloquently celebrated by Alphonse de Lamartine (1790-1869) in his Voyage en Orient, and gratefully named Lamartine Valley after his description. The vineyard stretches over ancient terraced slopes and enjoys an ideal climate. The finest varieties of French grapes and the refined Mediterranean varieties are grown on its limestone clayey-stony soil. The outcome of this God-given gift and human design at work is a dense, lively and perfumed wine with unique standing on wine-typing. The variety of Clos de Cana wines reliably portrays the very features of their nurturing environment. Each type of wine reflects the truthfulness of Lebanese mountains as well as the state-of-the-art manufacturing set up.
