It was eight already, walking on the street-facing Hakkasan... we tried our luck to book a table and it worked! It never works that fast... you can’t book a table at Hakkasan minutes before arriving. Happy and excited, we took the stairs down to the restaurant.
The decor: dark, way too dark for my camera but I tried... Fusing modern design and traditional Chinese motifs, with dark wood screens, rich materials and subtle use of lighting, the signature design of Hakkasan is experienced in every restaurant across the world. There’s a long bar lid in blue behind rooms surrounded with wood poles. It feels like a tomb at first until you sit at your table where a pending light helps you see what you are eating.
With every detail carefully considered, from the scent and sound and last artful bite, Hakkasan offers a truly immersive experience.
Hakkasan’s unique cuisine blends authentic Cantonese recipes with contemporary influences. Expect to enjoy modern dishes using traditional techniques and the finest quality ingredients. The food is indeed exceptional! Delicious food prepared to amaze. The fish is so juicy and so richly flavored, the shrimp are like magic, the dumplings are memorable... this is unique Cantonese food.
I’ve been to Tse Fung in Geneva, a Michelin starred restaurant that doesn’t deserve a star and where food is not close to what you eat at Hakkasan. Hakkasan deserves that star for the duck taste and how it’s prepared. The plates’ presentation and for the vibes.
Hakkasan’s approach to patisserie is distinctive: the pastry chefs explore the relationship between classical techniques from Europe and the distinctive flavors and spices inherent in Cantonese cuisine, specifically focusing on how these can complement each other and surprise.
A giant chocolate bean filled with chocolate mousse and spices where a robe of hot chocolate is pored at the table. A yummy dessert, very yummy dessert loaded with flavors, textures, and aromas.
Hakkasan is a must-try! The food and experience are both memorable. Expect to pay 180$ per person for the menu we had.
