At walking distance from the heart of Strasbourg, meters away from the main place and the cathedral, the Sofitel is your perfect choice for a week around the "capital of Christmas." Staying in Alsace for two days, Le Sofitel was an obvious choice, and I enjoyed it.
The hotel is a truly peaceful haven in the heart of the Alsatian capital with luxury boutiques, the Cathedral, the Ill River, Opera and the Petite France district at its doorstep. You will be charmed by the stylish decor: floral arrangements, polished woodwork, warm colors, and objets d'art make this a warm and inviting lifestyle place.
A team takes care of the car; three persons handle the reception and a concierge in a wide lobby enchanted with music. Stay at the bar, have a drink, sit on the couch or spend a relaxing moment in front of the chimney. You can even walk up to the mezzanine and work on your computer calmly.
Each Sofitel is a unique blend of the French "art de vivre" and local refinement. Sofitel Strasbourg Grande Île is a treasure trove of contemporary luxury in the heart of the city's medieval quarter - listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The lobby's pure lines and inviting sofas enchant all who enter. Discover the bar's retro design and a restaurant that opens onto a compact vineyard. Charm and elegance go hand in hand here, a hotel between the River Ill and the Canal du Faux-Rempart.
Up in the room, a medium sized room has a big bed, a working desk, a bathroom and most importantly a view on the church. A very relaxing bed, a television screen, several plugs for your charging and fast internet. Relax where Hermès amenities, a well-stocked minibar, and the Bose sound system work in concert to fill your senses. On the walls of your room are the writings of French and German authors - excerpts from literature. These words are an echo of a city passionate about art. Your 5-star hotel pays homage to Strasbourg, a city at the crossroads of epochs and cultures.
This time, I booked without breakfast and I was wrong. Breakfast at the hotel is delicious! I’ve been here for two days and didn’t see anyone until I arrived at breakfast. The restaurant serves breakfast between 7 and 10 am, loaded with travelers, they were all happy and mingling on this beautiful early morning.
Even though the buffet area is small, the choices are endless and the food is exceptional! I adored the croissant, loved the bread, enjoyed my smoked salmon, wrapped cheese in sandwiches with a spread of mustard... satisfying choices, good food, and professional service.
I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to my friends visiting Strasbourg.
