“Heineken Mexican fever”
Loca, the only Heineken bar in the region serving unique Mexican food, while enjoying the passion for sports together with the great Heineken beer experience.?When you open the restaurant door, you enter into a wide space area divided into different sections, the smoking section, the non smoking section as well as the bar. The restaurant is carefully built from wood, low ceiling with many additional components of wood, metal and brick stones.? The bar consists of high tables and chairs where you can have a drink and talk. The bar serves more than 30 different beers from all around the world in a unique feel where Heineken bottles give a light green ambiance to the drinking corner and decorate the walls. What amazed me in this part of the world is the genius pipeline delivering beer around the restaurant. Large barrels of different beers situated in the four corners of Loca quenches the thirst of its visitors. Open direct delivery beer at the bar and more than 30 different pilsner kinds are served as well. On Fridays, the day I was there, a band playing British and American tunes that included smooth rock and jazz tunes added a lovely tune in the background with the just about the right volume for people to still have the chance to carry out their conversation.
Three sharing Mexican dishes are changed every week. This week we had the Desayunar (three different kinds of eggs); Chili Concarne omelet, Wevo Ranchero, Wevo Macha; Del Mar (three seafood dishes) and the Tierra (a variety of meat and vegetarian dishes). The entrees are complicated but very tasty. They are indeed special signature dishes undiscovered in any Mexican restaurant before. You can try chicken, meat, quesadillas, tacos, nachos, eggs and more. All mixed independently with adequate dressings. For onion lovers, Loca is definitely your place to be with excellence and those of you who are allergic to onions, make sure to mention since onions are everywhere and in everything. In the main courses, you have to choose between, Loca’s ribs, Crepes de Bongos Salvage, Arroz Con Pollo Con Camerones, Enchiladas Verde Con Pollo, Baja Al Pastor, Fajitas Locas and Carne Asada Burrito.
Time to eat, and here comes the home-made guacamole freshly prepared in front of you, accompanied with home made tortillas. It opens the appetite to a trip to Mexico. Do not worry, you won’t leave this place hungry, I have just finished the appetizers and already feel full, but so excited to eat more, taste more, discover more. We had the chance to meet the Mexican chef: Juan, who has been in Dubai for the last 10 years. He is so good at what he does that it takes him minutes to prepare every dish, with love and passion. All his ingredients are fresh and prepared on daily basis. The Mexican chef recommendations at Loca: Tacos and Beef Nachos Chef Special, Tamales Chicken and Cheese Quesadillas.
A side note: I had three margaritas (peach, lemon and kiwi) with all what we had to eat and I can assure you that I didn’t feel any side effects afterwards. It was a pleasant lunch that I’ll surely repeat soon.
