One small shop with a cashier and a side take away window, Mama’s Boy Burgers has a burger place, ice cream and a pizza restaurant on the other side of the road. It feels like home, colorful and fresh, the eatery is like the old American diners of the seventies with more colors and more life.  Look around, enjoy the funny writings here and there, they’ll put you in a good mood before the food arrives.

With red wooden tables filling the grass outside facing that small individual house, the diner can be spotted while driving along the road of Tannersville.

Five ordinary burgers of which the Mama’s Boy and eight house favorites served with fries or coleslaw. Connect to WiFi; the password is “CALLYOURMOTHER.”

I felt transported until I had the first bite. A burger, looking like the one sold at “Shake Shack,” two very thick, greasy and very dry patties with hard borders that will scratch your throat. Two very hot pieces of meat stuffed between two very cold buns with a tomato slice and crunchy pickles. This burger needs life, more sauce, more cheese, less fat and has its buns warmed up before serving. The bun another hand is sticky and enjoyable as the one at McDonald’s. Shouldn’t the burger at Mama’s Boy Burger be more homey and traditional? I felt like I was eating at a fast food joint in Manhattan.

Fries are good enough, unpeeled brown fries with lots of salt.

After a loaded lunch, you can’t leave without trying their ice cream choices. A dozen choice of ice cream and another dozen of soft serve; I'm not sure how they do it, but they only have one machine! A long sized beautifully carved soft serve, food quality ice cream and here I was ready to continue my day of discoveries around Catskills. This place is not worth it to be very honest; service is not too welcoming, and the food is average.
