It’s the name that catches your attention; you say to yourself, a trattoria like any other Italian restaurant until you walk in! A big restaurant, candles decorating all tables, two stories of tables covered with a white tablecloth, decorative paintings, lots of wood and a winter garden. An Italian trattoria, but the vibes and music feel like an upscale restaurant.
The kitchen, an open kitchen built at the entrance is a mise-en-bouche for what’s coming next; I was so excited to eat and enjoy everything! Unfortunately, garlic is everywhere, preprepared sauces and the chef didn’t even propose alternatives — tagliatelle for me, two pizzas and the meat.
So the first impression was great until the waiter approached us: not welcoming and not happy to be working. Then came the food... tiny little portions served on big plates. Three zucchini, three Parma ham rolled like fingers and cheap looking calamari. Crunchy and nonoily zucchini with a side of white cream. Good quality tender calamari. Fine bresaola. Good quality pizza.
The problem at Fiat is the lack of generosity; focusing on food-cost, plates are stingy and look cheap. Good food is not enough; Italian happiness and generosity are missing.
Overcooked tagliatelle with no prominent flavor, and very salty beef; the beef plate is inedible! I liked the chili and salami pizza though.
An excess of garlic everywhere, salt is thrown here and there, overcooked pasta... and stinginess! There’s nothing Italian about this restaurant. Beautiful decor, nothing else. Not a restaurant worth trying.
