According to their statement, travelers say their holiday starts en route to the airport, Heathrow strives to offer the best airport experience from the moment they arrive. To excite the globetrotters travelling through the new terminal and to celebrate its completion, scents of its most fragrant destinations have been captured to take passengers on a sensory journey before even setting foot on their flights.

As they enter the departure lounge, travellers will be confronted by the giant, one-of-a-kind ‘scent globe’ which will immerse the curious in the aromas of Thailand; South Africa; Japan; China and Brazil. These specially created scents will give passengers travelling through Terminal 2 an exclusive preview of destinations that only Heathrow connects to.

To capture the essence of the five nations, Heathrow worked with Design in Scent, to produce bespoke scents from key ingredients associated with the designated country. The diverse fragrances aim to deliver an aromatic experience that transports passengers to far flung destinations.

South Africa captures the adventure of safari with notes of tribal incense, wild grass and musky animalics through the scent of Hyraceum, whilst Brazil embraces the scents of its rich rainforest fauna with a palette of coffee, tobacco and jasmine.

Japan is brought to life through cool, oceanic tones with a mix of seaweed and shell extracts, green tea and Ambergris capturing the essence of small coastal villages so synonymous with the great Pacific Island.

The fragrance of both Thailand and China will transport travellers to the Far East in an instant. China’s mystical temple incense and subtle Osmanthus Fragrans flower create an orient explosion as Thailand tantalises the taste buds with an appetising mix of lemongrass, ginger and coconut.
